Volunteering and InternShips
Are you interested in building on technical and social skills while working in friendly, diverse settings? If so, there are many group and solo volunteer opportunities available at the MCRC! Volunteers are a crucial part of the MCRC operation, and we are always looking to place them in suitable areas to match their skills and talents. Some of the many areas you’d be placed include classroom aides, maintenance, housekeeping, website management, client support roles, assistance during fundraising events, gardening and grounds maintenance, case management aides, office and secretarial duties, day care support, assistance with job readiness, and board or subcommittee membership.
Internships:
The MCRC welcomes inquiries regarding internships from higher education institutions in our area. Since internships represent a formal relationship between the higher educational institution and the Multicultural Center, prior contact with the institution is required before potential students can be interviewed and considered. The MCRC welcomes discussions regarding internships and will consider experiences in the areas of marketing, database & webpage development, social work, recreation or health-related fields. All MCRC Internships are unpaid.

Donations
At the Multicultural Community Resource Center (MCRC), we
are grateful for the generosity of our community. Donations play a vital role in helping us support refugee, immigrant, and New American families as they build their lives in Erie.
Items We Accept
We regularly accept new or gently used items that are in clean, working condition:
- Household essentials (pots, pans, dishes, utensils)
- Small kitchen appliances (microwaves, coffee makers, toasters)
- Bedding and linens (sheets, blankets, pillows)
- Towels and personal care items (new only)
- Cleaning supplies
- Furniture (by approval only – see below)
- Clothing (seasonal, clean, and in good condition)
- Baby items (diapers, wipes, strollers, pack-and-plays)
- School supplies and backpacks
Items We Cannot Accept
To ensure the safety and dignity of the families we serve, we are unable to accept:
- Mattresses or box springs
- Used personal hygiene items
- Broken, stained, or heavily worn items
- Large furniture without prior approval
Furniture Donations
Due to space and logistical considerations, all furniture donations must be approved in advance. Please contact us with photos and a description before dropping off any large items.
